Buckling of a Timoshenko beam on elastic foundation with uncertain input data

Ivan Hlavácek1

A monotone dependence of the critical buckling load of a simply supported Timoshenko–Mindlin beam both on the shear correction factor and on the stiffness of foundation is proved. Then the worst-scenario method is employed to find the ‘most dangerous’ input data.

Keywords: beam buckling; elastic foundation; Timoshenko model; uncertain data; worst scenario.
