A Note on Some Variational Principles for a Class of Linear Initial-Boundary Value Problems
Department of Mathematics, University of Southampton
The method of time convolutions is used to derive variational principles for some linear initial-boundary value problems in which time derivatives of the dependent variables appear explicitly in the boundary conditions. The formulation includes the initial boundary value problems associated with the propagation of surface waves and the underwater transmission of sound.
